History
78 NLCC MJ Miller has a rich history tied to the dedication of its founder, Mike Miller.
Formed in 1964, Mike Miller served as the original Corps Sponsor, and in the early years, the Cadets would parade at his home and lot on Garden City in Richmond, BC.
As the Cadet Corps expanded, it outgrew the Garden City site and relocated to the Forum on Sea Island.
In 1975, the Corps found its permanent home at the Navy League Hall, located at 7411 River Road, Richmond, BC.
This building was originally a spa, which Mike Miller personally purchased from Cook Road and Buswell to house the Cadet Corps.
His commitment to the Navy League and the local Cadet community left a lasting impact on the organization.
Unfortunately, Mike Miller passed away in 2007, and his wife, Theonilla, passed away in 2015.
They left behind a large family, including six sons, three daughters, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many of whom carry on their legacy.
This history highlights the deep community roots of NLCC MJ Miller, as well as the Miller family's lasting influence on its development and success over the years.
The NLCC MJ Miller Corps is thankful to the Miller family for our Corps and their continued invovlement in our Corps.
